Common spaces

At the end of the long and narrow courtyard there are the common spaces: on the left the area for breakfast, on the right the lounge bar. The two large glass entrance gates still preserve the chestnut wooden frames of the original portals. The breakfast room dates back to 1610 with further changes datable to 1845 indicated on the archstone placed at the entrance. However, the origin of the lounge bar, is attributable to the ecclesiastical properties in the Sassi rioni – districts- as attested by majolica and bas-relief on the entrance epistyle that bear the acronym CME Capitulum Metropolitanae Ecclesiae, which has been perfectly preserved throughout time.

In the Middle Ages, these spaces were used by the community as foggiali, hypogeum rooms for the storage of grains, as evidenced by the pits at the top of the cave.

Overlooking the San Pietro Caveoso Square is the reception, where the historic surroundings and design inspired from oriental minimalism are the framework of the little Mediterranean essences bonsai-wood of the Park of Murgia Materana : the Pianelle resort’s welcome to our guest.
