What yesterday was know as Chianella, the ancient toponym of the medieval district where many trades extramoenia- outside the high walls of the Civita- took place, today is named Rione Pianelle, landing place for travelers discovering the outstanding universal value of the Sassi and the Park of the Rupestrian Churches of Matera, World Heritage Site.
